Hello, and welcome. I am Seema Sharma, a Master’s-level clinician here at Talk to Heal Counseling Center. If you are reading this, you might be at a crossroads in your life, seeking a sense of clarity, or perhaps simply looking for a safe place to land. Whatever has brought you here, I want you to know that your presence is valued and your story is important.
In my practice, I often tell my clients that the most important work we can do is "defining our space." It is no coincidence that this concept is woven into the very fabric of who I am. In Sanskrit, my name, Seema, means "boundaries." For much of my life, I have reflected on what that means, not just as a linguistic definition, but as a lived experience. To me, a boundary is not a wall that keeps people out; it is a gateway that allows the right things in while protecting the peace we work so hard to build inside.
The Power of Boundaries in Healing
When we hear the word "boundaries," many of us immediately think of saying "no." We think of conflict, or the fear of hurting someone else’s feelings. But in the therapeutic space I create, we look at boundaries through a lens of self-respect and empowerment.
Boundaries are the invisible lines that define where you end and another person begins. Without them, we often find ourselves overwhelmed by the needs, emotions, and expectations of others, leaving very little room for our own growth. I work closely with my clients to identify where these lines have become blurred. Whether you are struggling with a demanding job, a complicated family dynamic, or a partnership that feels unbalanced, I am here to help you redraw those lines.
Defining your space means deciding what is acceptable to you and what is not. It means honoring your time, your energy, and your emotional well-being. By establishing healthy boundaries, we aren’t just managing our relationships with others; we are fostering a deeper, more compassionate relationship with ourselves.

Navigating the In-Between: My Journey and Yours
My approach to therapy is deeply informed by my background as a second-generation immigrant. Growing up between two cultures, I spent a significant amount of time navigating the "in-between." I understand the unique pressure of trying to honor family traditions and cultural heritage while simultaneously striving to forge an individual identity that feels authentic and true.
This experience has taught me that identity is not a destination, but a continuous process of discovery. Many of the clients I see feel caught between different versions of themselves, who they are at home, who they are at work, and who they are when no one is watching. If you feel like you are living a "double life" or struggling to find your voice within a specific cultural context, I want to help you bridge that gap.
At Talk to Heal Counseling Center, we pride ourselves on being a welcoming and inclusive environment. I bring my full self into the room, combining my clinical expertise with a genuine understanding of the nuances of cultural identity, life transitions, and the search for belonging.
A Voice for the Silenced: Domestic Violence Advocacy
One of the areas of my work that I am most passionate about is domestic violence advocacy. My background in trauma work has shown me the incredible resilience of the human spirit, even in the wake of profound pain. If you have experienced domestic violence or are currently in a situation where you feel unsafe or controlled, please know that you do not have to navigate this path alone.
Domestic violence is not always physical; it can be emotional, financial, or psychological. It often involves a systematic breaking down of a person’s boundaries until they feel they have no space of their own left. My role is to stand with you as an advocate and a clinician, helping you reclaim your agency.
We work together in a trauma-informed way, which means I prioritize your safety and your pace above all else. We won’t rush into things you aren’t ready for. Instead, we will build a foundation of trust. We will look at the strengths you already possess: because if you have survived, you are already incredibly strong: and we will use those strengths to build a future defined by safety, respect, and peace.

Relationship Challenges and Life Transitions
Relationships are the mirrors in which we see ourselves, but sometimes that reflection becomes distorted. Whether you are dealing with a breakup, a long-term marriage that has lost its spark, or the difficulty of modern dating, relationship issues can be a major source of anxiety and grief.
In our sessions, I help you look at the patterns in your relationships. Are you repeating the same cycles? Do you find yourself over-functioning for others while neglecting your own needs? By bringing these patterns into the light, we can begin to change them.
I also specialize in helping individuals navigate major life transitions. Life doesn't always go according to plan. Whether it’s a career change, moving to a new city, the loss of a loved one, or the shift into parenthood, these transitions can shake our sense of self. I provide a stable, supportive environment where you can process the grief of what was and prepare for the possibilities of what is to come. Our team of experts is dedicated to supporting you through every season of life.
My Clinical Approach: Evidence-Based and Deeply Human
I believe that therapy works best when it is a collaboration. While I bring clinical knowledge and evidence-based techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), you are the expert on your own life. My job is to provide the tools and the perspective that help you navigate your journey more effectively.
CBT is a powerful tool for addressing anxiety and depression because it focuses on the connection between our thoughts, our feelings, and our behaviors. Often, we get stuck in "thought loops": negative patterns of thinking that keep us feeling trapped. Together, we will challenge those thoughts and replace them with narratives that are more balanced and grounded in reality.
However, I believe that clinical tools are only as effective as the relationship they are built upon. My style is warm, person-centered, and deeply human. I am not here to just "fix" a problem; I am here to meet you as a person, to listen with empathy, and to empower you to make the changes you desire. We create a safe and respectful space where you can be vulnerable without fear of judgment.
